Java CoG Kit Globus Incubator Project
From Java CoG Kit
Contents |
Status
The Globus Incubator management project has decided that they are at this time overworked and do not have the time to review our project. Hence in the interest of other projects to be incubated first the CoG Workflow project has been asked by the Incubator Management Project to submit at another time.
We like to help out the IMP team and therefore postpone our incubation phase till the team has time to review it. However we like to keep our candidancy active and as we believe the process has changed, we like to inquire about what needs to be done in order to fulfill the candidancy status.
We hare maintaining a Wiki page at CoG Workflow Incubator project that reflects the last status when the IMP had decided they do not have the time to review it.
Information
The Java CoG Kit (http://www.cogkit.org) provides three different mechanisms of supporting Workflow.
- First, we have Java API abstractions for specifying workflows based on direct acyclic graphs. As the Graph is based on a task model, anything can be a node in the graph including invocations to WSRF, Web Services, GT2 servers, SSH servers and so forth.
- Second, we have a very sophisticated workflow engine and language, that allows easily to specify workflows through some simple constricts. Important to note is that the language is extensible and based on XML while also providing a functional programming language.
- Third, we have a prototype Grid shell that enhances the normal set of UNIX like commands to include Grid features. This project is still in the alpha stages.
More information about the CoG and Workflows in general can be found at http://www.cogkit.org
